While Stephen Silas reportedly remains a leading candidate to become the next head coach of the Houston Rockets, the Golden State Warriors are interested in bringing him aboard as their top assistant, sources told The Vertical's Adrian Wojnarowski.

Silas, currently an assistant with the Charlotte Hornets, reportedly made a very strong impression with Rockets brass in two interviews. According to Wojnarowski however, the Warriors have also sought permission from Charlotte to interview him as a replacement next season for Luke Walton.

Walton, Steve Kerr's top lieutenant, is taking over the Los Angeles Lakers.

Silas, 42, has worked as an assistant coach since 1999. He is the son of former NBA player and head coach Paul Silas.
