Report: Frank Vogel lands 4-year deal to become Magic head coach

The Orlando Magic have reportedly reached a deal in principle to hire Frank Vogel as head coach, according to Josh Robbins of the Orlando Sentinel. Vogel will earn approximately $22 million over four years, a source told TNT's David Aldridge.

The Indiana Pacers dismissed Vogel earlier in May despite taking the second-seeded Toronto Raptors to seven games in the first round of the postseason. Vogel met and interviewed with the Magic on Monday, The Vertical's Adrian Wojnarowski reported, citing league sources.

In five-and-a-half seasons with the Pacers, Vogel posted a 250-181 record, leading Indiana to the playoffs in all but one season. While he produced some of the league's top defensive units, Vogel's teams often struggled to score, which irked team president Larry Bird.

Orlando apparently moved quickly to hire Vogel after Scott Skiles' resignation last week. Vogel had reportedly drawn interest from the Memphis Grizzlies, New York Knicks, and Houston Rockets, making him one of the top targets on the market.

The Magic also interviewed Adrian Griffin, and reportedly had interest in Jeff Hornacek prior to his reported deal with the Knicks. Orlando hopes to retain Griffin as its lead assistant, but isn't sure how Vogel will proceed.
