Dwyane Wade made sure to save himself from any controversy prior to Game 4.

The Miami Heat star was one of the first players in line for the singing of 'O Canada' on Monday, after he was criticized for shooting warmup shots during the start of the Canadian anthem prior to Game 3.

Wade stated Sunday that he didn't mean any disrespect, and would adjust his pregame ritual to ensure there are no issues moving forward.

''I'm not a disrespectful person,'' Wade said. ''So if anybody thinks I'm being disrespectful to a country, then they don't know who Dwyane Wade is.''

The NBA also spoke with the Heat in order to make sure that no pregame routine interfered with any anthems.

Wade's actions brought forth responses from Ontario members of parliament, as well as Toronto Mayor John Tory and Toronto city councillor Norm Kelly.

"He should've just been more aware," Kelly said. "I don't think we'll see a repeat of what he did. He's smart. He's aware. He'll know next time."
