LeBron: 'I've always wanted to go against Wade in a playoff series'

To the chagrin of the Atlanta Hawks and the Toronto Raptors, the narrative of a potential Cleveland Cavaliers-Miami Heat showdown in the Eastern Conference finals is gaining steam. After Wednesday's shootaround, LeBron James was asked if he's thought about the possibility of a meeting with his old team.

"I think naturally, of course," James replied, according to USA Today's Jeff Zilgitt. "It'd be great to play those guys in the postseason. Throughout my whole career I've always wanted to go against (Dwyane) Wade in a playoff series. We've always talked about it even before we became teammates."

The close pals out of the 2003 draft have yet to face off in the postseason in either of James' two stints in Cleveland.

The Cavaliers and Heat lead their respective semifinal series 1-0, with Cleveland hosting the Hawks in Game 2 on Wednesday. The Cavs have been cruising so far in the playoffs with a 5-0 record, a postseason-leading 115.7 points per 100 possessions, and the East's best net rating.

The Heat face the Raptors on Thursday, two nights after a wacky overtime affair in Game 1 that saw Wade, Goran Dragic, and Joe Johnson carry Miami to victory.
