Spoelstra: It's been a tough year emotionally for Bosh

Erik Spoelstra acknowledged Tuesday that the Miami Heat are heading into the offseason without knowing Chris Bosh's status for the future.

The 11-time All-Star has been sidelined since the All-Star break, and has been forced to watch the past two seasons end from the sidelines as he deals with blood clots.

"There's nothing new," Spoelstra told reporters with regards to Bosh's health. "Obviously, it was very tough for the team. You really feel for C.B. because you know how much the game means to him. You really feel for him. It was a tough year emotionally."

Bosh had hoped to return this season, but team doctors failed to clear him. It was eventually announced earlier this month that he was officially shut down.

It was reported Monday that Bosh's condition could be career threatening, as there's fear in the organization that he won't ever receive proper clearance from team doctors to return to the court.

Despite being relegated to the bench, Bosh had been able to have an impact on the organization. During the team's playoff run, Spoelstra praised Bosh for being a vocal leader, and was spotted giving instructions to Heat players during games.

''I really miss CB," Spoelstra said. "That's why this team was able to get to this point, they never made excuses, and they never felt sorry for themselves. Developed a real grit and toughness out of that.''

The 32-year-old is owed $75 million over the next three years.
