Caldwell-Pope said he will take a month off of offseason training to heal a core muscle strain that he suffered back in February, MLive.com's David Mayo reports.

Analysis:

Caldwell-Pope missed a few games shortly before the All-Star break with a right groin strain, so it seems likely that is what's still bothering the shooting guard. The 23-year-old brought up his numbers across the board in every category except three-point productivity this past season, averaging 14.5 points on 42 percent shooting from the field to go with 3.7 rebounds, 1.8 assists, and 1.4 steals across 36.7 minutes in his 76 appearances. He'll look to parlay that performance into a long-term contract extension with the Pistons before the 2016-17 season begins.
