Anthony hasn't been consulted about Knicks' coaching search

As prime coaching candidates get scooped up left and right, the New York Knicks continue to sit on their hands.

There have been reports linking them to Tom Thibodeau and Luke Walton, since hired by the Minnesota Timberwolves and Los Angeles Lakers, respectively. They've reportedly met with former Cleveland Cavaliers coach David Blatt. Team president Phil Jackson has indicated he's more interested in bringing back interim coach Kurt Rambis.

So far, though, the Knicks don't appear to have made any significant progress, and all the while, their superstar has been kept in the dark.

Carmelo Anthony told The Vertical's Michael Lee that he wants to have a voice in the decision-making process regarding the team's next head coach, but said he hasn't spoken to Jackson since his exit interview two weeks ago.

"It's kind of hard to talk about that, because there is nothing imminent with that situation," Anthony said. "It's a process that I think should be taken, and taken seriously. I would want to be involved. I hope I'm involved. Just to have my opinion heard. But I've already laid out how I feel and put everything out there on the table. Now, it's just on them."

Anthony hasn't explicitly expressed disappointment with how the search is unfolding thus far, but it's not too difficult to read between the lines. His preference was reportedly to have Thibodeau coach the team, but the Knicks - after reportedly receiving a poor recommendation from Thibodeau's former employer - didn't even reach out to him.

If they had, Anthony's convinced Thibodeau would already be the team's coach.

"He waited a while to see if there was going be an opportunity," Anthony said Thursday. "It didn't happen. I'm pretty sure if he would've gotten offered the job, he would have took it with no regret. He would have jumped on it."

Anthony, who's also been the subject of trade speculation in the past few months, told Lee he has "no idea" how the summer will play out. But, as ever, he's trying to keep an open mind and stay focused on bringing a winning attitude to whatever situation he winds up in.

"Sometimes, you can be scared of the unknown," he said. "When you don't know something, it can put you on edge. I put it all into that (winning) part, continuing to try to stay on top of what I need to stay on top of and then control what I can control. I put a lot of emphasis in that."
