Martin (foot) isn't expected to be available for Summer League play, Peter Edmiston of The Memphis Commercial Appeal reports. "Right now, I'd say probably not," Grizzles GM Chris Wallace said Thursday, regarding Martin's possible availability.

Analysis:

Martin, who required surgery on his left foot shortly after being drafted last summer, recently underwent a second procedure on the foot, something that was apparently planned all along. This latest operation is more of a follow-up surgery, so while it will limit Martin's activity during the offseason, he's still expected to be ready to go for the start of training camp in the fall. Thanks to a slew of injuries to the Grizzlies' big men in the second half of the season, coach Dave Joerger was forced to lean more heavily on the raw Martin than expected, as the rookie ended up appearing in 26 consecutive games -- including two playoff contests -- after Feb. 29, averaging 6.2 points (on 47.1% shooting from the field) and 3.6 rebounds over 16 minutes.
