The Clippers announced Tuesday that Griffin (quad) has been ruled out for the rest of the postseason

The Clippers announced Tuesday that Griffin (quad) has been ruled out for the rest of the postseason, Rowan Kavner of Clippers.com reports.

Analysis:

The news is another crushing blow to a Clippers team that also lost Chris Paul for an indefinite period of time after the point guard fractured his right hand in Monday's Game 4 loss to the Trail Blazers. Griffin started and played most of Monday's contest before departing in the second half due to pain in his left quad, an area that's hampered him since late December. Until Monday night, Griffin, who missed several months due to the partially torn quad (along with a broken hand and a four-game suspension) before returning late in the regular season, had been able to manage the discomfort, but he apparently aggravated the injury at some point in Game 4. An MRI on Tuesday revealed no further damage, but the Clippers will shut Griffin down as their once-promising season now looks to be on the verge of coming to a stunning and disappointing close. The Trail Blazers evened the first-round series at 2-2 with Monday's win and would now look to be in the driver's seat with both Paul and Griffin sidelined. The winner of the series will move on to face a Warriors team that's expected to be without Stephen Curry (knee) for at least roughly half of the series. With Griffin sidelined, DeAndre Jordan will take on more primacy in the frontcourt, while Cole Aldrich and Jeff Green should see also see their roles increase.
