Dallas Mavericks point guard Deron Williams will undergo surgery to fix a sports hernia, ESPN's Tim MacMahon reports.
Williams played through the injury in Games 1 and 2 of the playoffs but managed just 90 seconds the rest of the way after he reaggravated the injury.
He will miss about a month to recover.
The 31-year-old Williams enjoyed a strong season where he averaged 14.1 points and 5.8 assists in 32.4 minutes. He has a player option worth $5.6 million for 2016-17.
