Report: Kings to hire Ken Catanella as assistant GM

Kyle Terada / US PRESSWIRE

The Sacramento Kings are reportedly in advanced discussions to add a new front-office executive to work alongside vice president and general manager Vlade Divac.

The Kings plan to hire Detroit Pistons assistant GM Ken Catanella to serve in the same role with their organization, ESPN's Marc Stein reports, citing league sources.

Catanella, an analytics specialist, has served as Pistons assistant GM for the past two seasons after spending three years as their director of basketball operations. He previously worked as an analytics manager in the NBA office and a stats coordinator for the New Jersey Nets.

He joins a club in the midst of a comprehensive coaching hunt - and in desperate need of some stability after years of volatility, upheaval, and turmoil at all levels.

Mike Bratz, who's been serving as Sacramento's assistant GM, will reportedly remain with the organization as director of scouting and advisor to the GM.
