Deron Williams (hernia) is done for the season according to head coach Rick Carlisle, Earl K. Sneed of Mavs.com reports.

Coach Rick Carlisle said Sunday that Williams (sports hernia) has officially been ruled out for the rest of the postseason, Earl K. Sneed of Mavs.com reports.

Analysis:

Williams has been battling a sports hernia injury since late March and sat out Game 3, only to return to the lineup for Game 4 and exit in the second minute of the contest after aggravating the ailment. With Williams showing little improvement with his condition over the last few weeks, it appears the team's medical staff decided it was in the point guard's best interest to shut it down for the year. The banged-up Mavericks, who enter Monday's Game 5 down 3-1 in the series, will likely turn to J.J. Barea -- who has been limited by a groin injury of his own lately -- to make the start at point guard, with Raymond Felton and Devin Harris also in line to see increased opportunities to run the offense.
