Morris: Pistons need to rough Love up a little bit in Game 2

The Cleveland Cavaliers escaped a tightly contested Game 1 over the Detroit Pistons on Sunday, in large part because head coach Tyronn Lue opted to go small in the fourth quarter and slide Kevin Love to center.

The move opened up the floor for the Cavs, who scored 30 fourth-quarter points thanks to some beautiful passing sequences, spacious driving lanes, and a hail of 3-pointers. The Pistons, meanwhile, were unable to punish Love at the defensive end or on the glass. Love hit two threes in the final frame, and finished with 28 points and 13 rebounds in the game.

Pistons forward Marcus Morris has an idea of what his team needs to do to prevent that from happening in Game 2.

"Maybe rough him up a little bit," Morris said, according to MLive's David Mayo.

"He had a good game the first game. We definitely took it a little disrespectful. So I think we're definitely going to push up a little harder on him, maybe foul him a little harder, things like that."

Given how Love's postseason ended a year ago, he's probably none too thrilled at that notion. But with his massive Game 1 performance, he seems to have painted a bit of a target on his back.

"I think he was just too comfortable," Morris said. "His confidence was too high. We've definitely got to get him out of that rhythm early."

Pistons head coach Stan Van Gundy, for his part, said any tweaks to the team's game plan would be "subtle."

"You're not going to change your entire system," he said.

Game 2 goes Wednesday night in Cleveland.
