Tayshaun Prince says he has no plans to retire

Brad Rempel-USA TODAY Sports

Tayshaun Prince played 77 games for the Minnesota Timberwolves this season, a high number for an older veteran player on a youth-laden team. That said, Prince has no plans to call it quits just yet.

"I'm not retiring," Prince said, according to the Minneapolis Star Tribune's Jerry Zgoda. "That's not a question. Who knows what will happen. I know one thing: I didn't expect to play 78, 79 games this year, I'll tell you that much. But I feel good for the most part and we'll see what happens."

Prince will turn 37 next February, and if he is back in the NBA it will be his 15th pro season. No longer the elite perimeter defender he was a decade ago, Prince posted the second-worst player efficiency rating of any qualified player this season. He averaged 2.9 points in 19 minutes per game.

Prince will be a free agent this summer after earning the veteran's minimum this season. It's not known if the Timberwolves want to bring him back, but the team expects Kevin Garnett to return for a 22nd NBA season.
