Rudy Gobert (ankle) did not make the trip to Los Angeles on Tuesday with the team, making it highly unlikely he plays in Wednesday's matchup with the Lakers, Aaron Falk of the Salt Lake Tribune reports.

Gobert (ankle) didn't travel with the Jaz to Los Angeles on Tuesday and will be unavailable for Wednesday's matchup with the Lakers, Aaron Falk of the Salt Lake Tribune reports.

Analysis:

Gobert, who sprained his right ankle in Monday's crucial loss to the Mavericks, as spotted using crutches after the game, and it appears he hasn't healed enough in the last 24 hours to realistically take the floor Wednesday. The Jazz should have more word on the severity of Gobert's setback in the coming days, but for now, he'll be listed as day-to-day. The team should be favored to win against the lowly Lakers even without Gobert, but his presence would surely provide some assurance in the team's hope of clinching the final playoff berth in the Western Conference. The Jazz will need a victory and a Rockets loss to the Kings on Wednesday in order to claim the eighth seed. With Gobert out for the regular season finale, Trey Lyles seems likely to enter the starting lineup down low, while Jeff Withey and Trevor Booker could also see expanded roles in the frontcourt.
