Bulls' Rose, Gasol, Gibson, Moore to sit out last 2 games of season

The only bit of drama remaining for the Chicago Bulls franchise this season is whether the Golden State Warriors will break the regular-season wins record they set 20 years ago.

The fate of the 2015-16 Bulls has been sealed, and for the first time since 2008, it doesn't involve the playoffs. With nothing left to play for, four regulars are shutting it down for the last two games of season. Derrick Rose, Pau Gasol, Taj Gibson, and E'Twaun Moore will all sit out the final week, the Chicago Tribune's K.C. Johnson learned at shootaround Monday.

Rose has been dealing with an elbow injury, Gasol a knee injury, Gibson a rib injury, and Moore a hamstring injury. Gibson and Moore have missed the last several games and were unlikely to return, but Rose and Gasol have been playing through their ailments.

Meanwhile, Jimmy Butler says he'll continue to play out the string, despite having dealt with knee issues throughout the season. "I love this game, this organization, my teammates," Butler said. "I've missed too many games already. Ain't no need to add two more."

The Bulls close the season with cream-puff games against the New Orleans Pelicans and Philadelphia 76ers, before taking a long summer holiday to think about what went wrong this year.
