Heyward-Bey has speed to burn but has never shown the type of production to live up to where the Oakland Raiders selected him in the draft. After four years in Oakland, Heyward-Bey signed a one-year deal with the Indianapolis Colts last season and registered 29 catches for 309 yards with one touchdown. His best season came in 2011 when he recorded 64 receptions for 975 yards and four touchdowns.
The Steelers are thin at wide receiver after losing both Emmanuel Sanders and Jericho Cotchery to free agency. They signed former New Orleans Saints wideout Lance Moore, but Heyward-Bey could add some veteran depth to a shaky position.
