The Tampa Bay Buccaneers got some good news Tuesday as running back Doug Martin practiced for the second straight day

Martin sat out Sunday's loss to the St. Louis Rams with a leg issue and the Bucs have a short turnaround this week, as they take on the Atlanta Falcons this Thursday.

Even if Martin can go, look for Bobby Rainey to still be a factor in the offense. He has 156 yards on the ground in the first two games and is averaging six yards per attempt.

Sept 14, 12:56 PM

After being limited in practice throughout the week, Tampa Bay Buccaneers running back Doug Martin will not play Sunday against the St. Louis Rams, according to FOX Sports' Jay Glazer.

Martin suffered a leg injury last week, and his absence will make for a significant loss on the Buccaneers' offense. Bobby Rainey will start in his place and should see plenty of touches throughout the game.

Despite practicing on a limited basis Thursday and Friday, Tampa Bay Buccaneers running back Doug Martin remains questionable for Sunday's game against the St. Louis Rams.

Martin suffered a knee ailment last week against the Carolina Panthers and saw minimal action after the injury.

If Martin can't go, expect Bobby Rainey to get the bulk of the carries.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers welcomed a key member of their offensive corps back to practice on Thursday.

Martin injured his knee during the Buccaneers Week 1 loss to the Carolina Panthers.

The 2012 Pro Bowler was largely ineffective in his season debut, rushing for nine yards on nine carries, and will likely split work with backup Bobby Rainey if he suits up on Sunday against the St. Louis Rams.

Report: Buccaneers' Doug Martin did not practice on Wednesday

Sept 10, 3:03 PM

Although Tampa Bay Buccaneers running back Doug Martin's knee injury isn't considered serious, the 25-year-old former 1,000-yard rusher reportedly didn't participate in practice on Wednesday.

Martin suffered the injury during the Buccaneers' Week 1 loss to the Carolina Panthers.

The 2012 Pro Bowler was mostly ineffective when he carried the rock in his season debut, rushing for nine yards on nine attempts.

A shoulder injury limited Martin to six games last season, and he finished with 456 yards and one touchdown. During his rookie campaign in 2012, the Boise State product ran roughshod over defenses, rushing for 1,454 yards and 11 touchdowns.

Buccaneers' Doug Martin will wait and see on severity of leg injury

Sept 7, 10:53 PM

The health status of Tampa Bay Buccaneers running back Doug Martin was shrouded in mystery during the team's game against the Carolina Panthers on Sunday.

Martin exited the game with an apparent knee injury, but the team later claimed his absence was related to a shoulder issue.

Martin clarified the situation after the game.

Martin returned to play for a short stint after suffering the injury, but didn't see another touch after his initial departure.

Martin missed the majority of last season with a shoulder injury and has Bobby Rainey breathing down his neck, so he surely doesn't want to miss any time this season.

That loud noise which just emitted from Raymond James Stadium was a collective sigh of relief from Buccaneers fans, as the team's All-Pro running back Doug Martin returned to the field after exiting in the third quarter with an injury.

It appeared that Martin suffered a knee injury, though the team reported the Boise State product was dealing with a shoulder ailment.

Buccaneers' Doug Martin exits game vs. Panthers with apparent knee injury

Sept 7, 6:15 PM

Tampa Bay Buccaneers running back Doug Martin was ineffective in the early going of the team's opener against the Carolina Panthers on Sunday, turning his first nine carries into only nine yards.

His day got even worse in the third quarter, when the sophomore back exited the game with an apparent knee injury.

After being examined on the sideline, Martin was escorted to the locker room by the team's training staff.

The injury did not appear to be serious, but the Buccaneers' players and staff will surely be holding their collective breath until he returns.

Martin's return has been classified as questionable, though he has been spotted on the sideline without a helmet, "fighting and arguing" to get back into the game, which could mean his day is done. Bobby Rainey entered the game as Martin's replacement.
