TBJ: Tim Duncan is still very good
Ballin: I think we all know about the Bulls’ vaunted backcourt — Kirk Hinrich and Marco Belinelli, basically our generation’s Jordan and Pippen — so it shouldn’t be any surprise that they would combine for 14 points, four rebounds, three assists and two threes in the fourth quarter of a close win against the Lakers. That’s totally expected and reliable.
Not so much: The 76ers went on a 23-4 run that lasted until 5:30 remaining in the fourth quarter, taking an 82-75 lead against the Spurs. They lost the next five and a half minutes 15-3.
Banger: Jordan Crawford did it, you guys.
This is the second huge three Jordan Crawford has hit against the Blazers this season and it gave Washington the season sweep. That’s why Nicolas Batum isn’t excited about his first career triple-double (12 points, 10 rebounds, 11 assists), literally saying, ”I don’t really count it. We got swept by the Wizards this year.” So never mind about that triple-double.
SpryGate: Here is your latest “Tim Duncan is good at age 36″ update — 24 points on 10-17 shooting, 17 rebounds, five assists, two steals and one block in 34 minutes. As is required by internet law, now is when we mention that he is spry for his age.
Icy on purpose: Joe Johnson also did it, you guys.
After the first season of this intra-city rivalry, the series is even at 2-2 with the Knicks holding margin of victory advantage by just seven points. In 192 minutes of basketball this season, the Knicks and Nets were separated by three possessions. Pretty cool.
Shooter starring Mark Wahlberg: Stephen Curry went for 14 points in the fourth quarter of the Warriors’ win against the Clippers, as he knocked down all four of his three-point attempts in the final frame. Very fun to watch.
Sneaky Dees: Speaking of Steph Curry, he makes an awesome play at the beginning of this clip. But the real star of these few seconds is Chris Paul, who hates naps.
Never rest around Chris Paul. He’ll either punch you in the genitals or get an and-one, so it’s going to be embarrassing either way. Just stay alert.
Quickish: Somebody tell Rudy Gay to hurry up with his buzzer-beating game-winning jump shots so that they’ll actually count next time.
Roundup: The Hornets beat the Kings while Anthony “Minor Injuries” Davis sprained an ankle, the Hawks beat the Timbewolves thanks to Jannero Pargo’s (who was signed earlier in the day) 14-point fourth quarter, and the Rockets beat the Bobcats by erasing an 11-point halftime deficit to break a seven-game losing streak. Now you know what happened in those games.
Other things: Iman Shumpert wore Jeremy Scott adidas for a basketball game, which is equally crazy and awesome … Damian Lillard squeezed a dunk right past Nene’s arms and it looked cool … Also cool was Jarrett Jack’s passy-pass, which I’m sure Grandma Lana loved … After scoring 17 points in the Grizzlies’ loss, Wayne Ellington was shipped to the Cavaliers as part of a payroll-trimming trade that really won’t change anything
