Lakers' Gasol returns, Nash getting close

Pau Gasol, who has been out with tendinitis in both knees for two weeks, will return to the Lakers lineup tonight when Los Angeles takes on the Bobcats.

Steve Nash, on the other hand, who hasn't played since suffering a non-displaced left leg fracture in the second game of the season, says that he is hopeful to play by Christmas, with ESPN Los Angeles reporting that there is a "50-50" chance the two-time MVP will suit up this Saturday against the Warriors.

Gasol was struggling through a disappointing start to the season before being sidelined, averaging just 12.6 points and 8.8 rebounds while trade rumours involving the former All Star swirled.

The Lakers have won back-to-back games after going through a four-game losing streak, but still sit 12th in the Western Conference with a disappointing record of 11-14.
