76ers GM: Bynum out indefinitely

Philadelphia 76ers general manager Tony DiLeo announced on Saturday that ailing centre Andrew Bynum will be out indefinitely, with no timetable in mind for a return to the court.

The team had initially hoped that Bynum, who was recovering from a bone bruise on his right knee, would be ready to open the season, but the big man's highly anticipated 76ers debut has now been pushed back four times. Most recently, the Sixers hoped Bynum would be cleared for basketball activities by December 10, but last weekend it was revealed that the All-Star had hurt his left knee while bowling, and now the free agent to be's return is up in the air.

Philadelphia acquired the 25-year-old Bynum in the blockbuster trade that landed Dwight Howard in Los Angeles and sent long time 76er Andre Iguodala to Denver.

DiLeo says Bynum has "bilateral bone bruises and a weakened cartilage state"' in his knees.
