Mavs' Nowitzki undergoes knee surgery; out 6 weeks

The Dallas Mavericks announced that forward Dirk Nowitzki underwent athroscopic knee surgery and is expected to miss at least six weeks in recovery.
The 14-year veteran and 11-time All-Star led the Mavericks to the 2011 NBA Championship and was the 2006-07 NBA MVP. Nowitzki averaged 21.6 points, 6.8 rebounds and shot 45.7% from the floor in 2011-12, playing all 62 regular season games.
The Mavericks open the 2012-13 regular season on October 30th on the road against the Lakers.
