Lakers' Barnes out of jail after warrant arrest
LOS ANGELES (AP) Former Los Angeles Lakers forward Matt Barnes is out of jail after being arrested on suspicion of threatening a police officer who stopped him for a traffic warrant.
Manhattan Beach police Sgt. Paul Ford says Barnes was released around 11:30 p.m. Monday, three hours after his arrest.
Barnes was walking when he was arrested on a $26,000 misdemeanor warrant for driving on a suspended license.
Ford says Barnes also allegedly made a verbal threat to the officer. Total bail: $51,000.
Barnes later posted on Twitter that a small situation had turned into an ``Urban Legend'' and scoffed at what he calls ``all you perfect people'' judging him for missing a court date.
Barnes is a free agent. He was the Lakers' top-scoring reserve last season, averaging 7.8 points per game.
