Jason Thompson News

Thompson is ready to embrace a role as a veteran contributor with the Kings this upcoming season, Jason Jones of the Sac Bee reports.

Analysis: Thompson recently signed a five-year $30.2 million contract extension with Kings and said he understands his role on a team full of offensive-minded players. Thompson said that he needs to "do the little things" and to "have the mindset of trying to average a double-double" this upcoming season. Averaging a double-double may be hard to achieve on a team with players such as DeMarcus Cousins, Chuck Hayes, and the newly-drafted Thomas Robinson all sharing court-time; however, Thompson's new attitude towards unselfish play and consistency is a good sign that he can maintain his solid field-goal percentage (53.3) from a year ago while contributing moderately in the scoring and rebounding departments.
