Report: Howard would re-sign with Lakers if traded
Dwight Howard might finally be ready to be a Laker.
Howard is reportedly now willing to re-sign with the Lakers long term if he is traded there, according to ESPN.
The disgruntled All Star centre was previously said to only be willing to commit long term if he was traded to the Nets, but with Brooklyn recently extending the contract of centre Brook Lopez, a move to the Nets would have to wait.
The Lakers, meanwhile, have reportedly been willing to acquire Howard in a trade built around centre Andrew Bynum even without Howard's long term commitment.
Howard is set to become an unrestricted free agent next summer, as is Bynum. The ESPN report states that one hold up in a potential Howard/Lakers trade is that Bynum will not commit long term to the Magic.
Earlier on Wednesday, it was reported that the Cavaliers could act as a facilitator in a trade between Orlando and the LA Lakers that would see Cleveland land Bynum. Orlando would in turn receive a slew of draft picks and veteran forward Anderson Varejao.
The Rockets also remain a possibility, both as a trade option for the Magic to send Howard and as a potential facilitator in a deal that would see the Lakers land Howard and Houston land Bynum.
