Report: Rockets to make another run at Howard
UPDATE: The Houston Rockets have reconstructed their trade proposal to the Orlando Magic for Dwight Howard. They are prepared to take on the contracts of Jason Richardson, Glen Davis and Chris Duhon in addition to sending Orlando multiple future first-round draft picks, according to ESPN.com
The Houston Rockets have reportedly decided to use their amnesty provision on forward Luis Scola, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports.
Citing a "league source," Wojnarowski tweets that the team will likely file the paperwork with the league on Friday.
Scola is set to earn $21 million over the next three years, and the Rockets are reportedly clearing that cap space to make a run at Magic centre Dwight Howard. Houston has been one of the teams, along with the Nets and Lakers, involved in Howard rumours.
With Wednesday's news that the Nets are temporarily out of the running for the All Star big man's services, the Rockets have emerged as a potential favourite to land Howard.
Scola averaged 15.4 points and 6.4 rebounds while playing in all 66 games for the Rockets in 2011-2012. The 32-year-old power forward has career averages of 14.5 points and 7.7 rebounds in five NBA seasons, all spent with the Rockets.
