Report: Celtics, Green close on four year, $40 million deal

The Boston Celtics are close to re-signing free agent forward Jeff Green, according to a report from Sam Amick of SI.com.

Green's agent, David Falk, told Amick that he's "confident" a deal will get done between the two parties now that the Celtics have re-signed forward Brandon Bass, and expects they will come to an agreement by July 11 when the free agent moratorium comes to an end.

A source close to the talks told Amick that the deal was in the neighbourhood of four years and $40 million.

Green became an unrestricted free agent last season when his contract, signed with the Celtics in December 2011 after the lockout, was voided by a heart ailment. He did not play in 2011-12 due to season ending surgery.

During the 2010-11 season, Green averaged 13.3 points and 4.8 rebounds per game in 75 contests. He split the season between the Oklahoma City Thunder (49 games) and the Celtics (26 games). He has averaged 13.9 points and 5.5 rebounds per game for his career.
