Shumpert leaves game 1 with knee injury
New York Knicks rookie point guard Iman Shumpert left Saturday's first round game vs Miami with an apparent left knee injury. The injury occured midway through the third quarter. Shumpert attempted a crossover as he brought the ball up the floor and his left knee buckled underneath him.
He had to be carried off the floor and into the locker room by 3 members of the Bulls training staff. Shumpert had not registered a point at the time of his injury, and had a -27 rating for the game.
Baron Davis and Mike Bibby will now handle the point guard duties, seeing as Jeremy Lin is out for at least the entire first round with a knee injury of his own.
During the regular season, Shumpert averaged 9.5 ppg, 3.2 rpg and 2.8 apg. The 6"5 guard from Georgia Tech is 21 years of age.
