Carolina Panthers linebacker Thomas Davis has been named the honorary pace car driver for NASCAR's Coca-Cola 600 on May 24 at Charlotte Motor Speedway.
"I'm going to go as fast as they allow me to go," Davis told Joseph Person of the Charlotte Observer.
Davis is having a busy year. In January, he received the NFL's Walter Payton Man of the Year Award. A month later, he received a key to the city in Charlotte. Additionally, he announced the Panthers' first-round draft pick in Chicago two weeks ago.
Other notable NFL players to be named honorary pace car drivers in the past include Washington Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III, Dallas Cowboys tight end Jason Witten, and most recently, New England Patriots receiver Julian Edelman.
