Lewis, Scoggins, Rivas shine on UFC Fight Night 82 Prelims

David Manning / USA TODAY

Lightweight: Josh Burkman def. K.J. Noons via unanimous decision

Burkman had no problem taking advantage of a gun-shy Noons.

All three judges saw this one for Burkman, who was fighting at 155 pounds for the first time after a 13-year career at welterweight. The action was mostly comprised of Burkman chasing Noons around, picking him apart with kicks to the legs and body. When the action got in close, Burkman was able to lift Noons up and slam him down.

It was the 28th career win for "The People's Warrior" and while it was mostly devoid of highlights, the victory was much-needed for Burkman, who was 0-2 with a no-contest in his last three fights.

In his post-fight interview, Burkman revealed that he went through a severe cut to make his lightweight debut:

Heavyweight: Derrick Lewis def. Damian Grabowski via first-round TKO

Add another name to the list of fighters who have crumbled beneath Lewis' ground-and-pound.

Grabowski made his first walk to the Octagon carrying a gaudy 20-2 record, but it didn't seem to matter to Lewis. "The Black Beast" opened up with some high kicks, and when Grabowski tried to capitalize by shooting in for his legs, Lewis sprawled and successfully reversed the situation.

From top position, Lewis was merciless. He patiently waited for openings before bludgeoning Grabowski with boulder-like fists. The referee jumped in for the save at 2:17 of the first round.

Afterwards, Lewis celebrated by slamming the mat and giving Grabowski a death stare.

Flyweight: Justin Scoggins def. Ray Borg via unanimous decision

Scoggins shut down Borg for the biggest win of his career.

"The Tazmexican Devil" was looking to build on a three-fight win streak, but it was Scoggins who looked the part of a contender. An array of kicks and solid takedown defense allowed Scoggins to out-point Borg in every round. Scoggins showed incredible confidence with a karate-based attack that left Borg confused and bloodied.

It was a complete performance by Scoggins, who swept the scorecards. With the upset win, he may have stolen the momentum of the 12th-ranked Borg. The South Carolina native said he has his eyes on the flyweight title, and punctuated his post-fight interview with a dab.

Featherweight: Diego Rivas def. Noad Lahat via second-round KO

After being completely dominated on the ground by Lahat early in their fight, Rivas could not afford to be taken down again.

When the bell rang for the second round, Lahat shot in to resume the grappling action, and Rivas caught him with a devastating flying knee. Lahat was limp before he hit the mat, and Rivas' follow-up hammer fists sealed the deal.

Rivas (7-0) remains undefeated, including two wins in the UFC.
