White says Cormier-Jones II likely for April

The second meeting between UFC light heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier and Jon Jones is closer to becoming a reality.

Speaking to FOX's "AtTheBuzzer," Dana White announced that the highly anticipated bout is "probably going to happen in April."

"I don't have the date yet," White said. "I don't have the date or the venue, but April is looking like the month."

Cormier-Jones II was expected to headline an April 23 show at Madison Square Garden, but UFC's plans were thwarted by a federal judge's refusal to allow a preliminary injunction that would've temporarily lifted the MMA ban in New York.

At the UFC on FOX 18 post-fight press conference on Saturday, UFC vice president Dave Sholler told reporters that the match was in the works, so White's response confirms that statement while filling in one more piece of the puzzle, though the venue remains a mystery.
