Benson Henderson is looking to pocket that cheddar.

Fresh off the final fight of his UFC contract - a hard-fought, split-decision victory over Jorge Masvidal in the main event of UFC Fight Night 79 - Henderson vowed to retire a UFC combatant, but he plans on dipping his toes into the potentially lucrative waters of free agency first.

"When I retire, it will be retiring in the UFC - I know that for sure," Henderson told MMAjunkie.com following Saturday's event. "But I'm going to test the market, yes."

Immediately following his win over Masvidal, "Bendo" made a few cryptic comments about his future as he slowly removed his UFC-branded gloves.

"I'm not trying to send any message of any type, but if it plays out a certain way, I want to have some pretty good memories to go out on," he said.

The UFC has a chance to match any potential deals the former lightweight kingpin receives from competing promotions. This could lead to Henderson leveraging a more lucrative contract based on possible offers from Bellator and ONE Championship.
