UFC 192 medical suspensions: Gustafsson could face 6-month hiatus

Troy Taormina / USA TODAY Sports

All fighters on the UFC 192 card received mandatory medical suspensions, MMAjunkie.com confirmed Monday.

Fourteen of the fighters who graced the Octagon in Houston on Saturday received longer terms than the minimum 10-day suspension required by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation.

Alexander Gustafsson - who came up short in his attempt to dethrone light heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier - was told he'll have to sit out for six months pending clearance by doctors.

The 28-year-old Swede lost by split decision.

The challenger rocked the champ with multiple knees throughout the five-round title match. However, Gustafsson was left with significant facial damage as Cormier - the aggressor for most of the fight - had his hand raised at the end.

Featherweight Yair Rodriguez - winner of "The Ultimate Fighter: Latin America" - defeated Daniel Hooker, but sustained a foot injury which warranted an indefinite suspension.
