Northcutt, Pettis, Lewis emerge victorious on UFC 192 prelims

Sage Northcutt def. Francisco Trevino via 1st-round TKO

All it took was 57 seconds.

Making his UFC debut at the tender age of 19, Sage Northcutt lived up to the hype on Saturday night, needing a mere 57 seconds to completely lay waste to Francisco Trevino.

After a slip sent Trevino careening to the canvas, Northcutt uncorked a torrent of punches, battering the veteran until he sought refuge against the cage. Once against the cage, Northcutt landed a big takedown and rained down vicious elbows until referee Herb Dean mercifully stepped in to put an end to the ultraviolence.

Sergio Pettis def. Chris Cariaso via unanimous decision

It wasn't a complete performance by Sergio Pettis, but it was enough.

Pettis completely outclassed Chris Cariaso on the feet over the first two rounds, easily carving up the veteran with combinations and slick counters for nearly 10 minutes, even flooring the veteran with a picture-perfect counter right hand - though he wasn't able to put away the wily veteran.

Cariaso came to life for a bit in the third, controlling long stretches of the round with an active top control, and he tried to finish the fight with a Hail Mary heel-hook in the closing moments of the stanza.

Still, Pettis had done more than enough in the first two rounds, and had his hand raised when the judges' scorecards were read.

Derrick Lewis def. Viktor Pesta via 3rd-round TKO

Derrick Lewis violently snatched victory from the jaws of defeat.

For almost two rounds Lewis looked completely lost against Viktor Pesta, repeatedly falling victim to Pesta's superior wrestling, grappling a clinch-work.

Just when it looked as though Pesta would cruise to an uneventful unanimous decision victory, Lewis unleashed the beast, nearly finishing Pesta with a flurry of hammerfists in the closing moments of the second stanza.

Revitalized, Lewis turned up the heat to open the third frame, stuffing Pesta's desperate takedowns before unloading some ridiculous, fight-ending ground-and-pound from full mount.
