Dos Santos and Overeem to finally meet at UFC on FOX 17

A pair of heavyweights with venomous striking are set to meet at UFC on FOX 17.

After months of back-and-forth jawing on social media, Alistair Overeem will finally have a chance to chuck anvils at Junior dos Santos on Dec. 19 at the Amway Center in Orlando, Fla.

A former UFC heavyweight champion, Dos Santos has alternated wins and losses since 2012, sandwiching defeats to fellow former heavyweight champion Cain Velasquez between victories over Frank Mir, Mark Hunt, and Stipe Miocic.

"I hope he doesn't fail the drug test this time," Dos Santos sniped in Portuguese on Instagram, as translated by MMAFighting.com's Guilherme Cruz. Dos Santos, of course, is referring to one of the two previous times the two fighters had been matched up, when Overeem tested positive for elevated testosterone.

One of the most terrifying strikers in MMA history, Overeem's creaky chin has prevented his ascension to the top of the UFC's heavyweight division. In his last trip to the Octagon at UFC 185, "The Demolition Man" laid an absolute beating on Roy Nelson in a victory that inexplicably went to the judge's scorecards.

A card that seems to grow more and more stacked with each passing day, UFC on FOX 17 will be headlined by a lightweight title bout between Rafael dos Anjos and Donald Cerrone.
