Conor McGregor plans to finish Aldo: 'It's the chin I am hunting'

UFC trailblazer Conor "The Notorious" McGregor is known for his confident and scandalous demeanor.

Fight after fight, the Irishman declares what he thinks of his opponent and predicts how his contests will play out. He talks the talk, then lives up to his word.

Ahead of the much-anticipated UFC 189 event in Las Vegas, The Notorious discussed a few event storylines, including potentially facing Chad Mendes if Jose Aldo's rib injury doesn't mend.

McGregor said that no matter what happens before the event, he's focused and ready to be awarded the featherweight belt.

"I don't care," he told John Morgan of MMAJunkie. "I'll be there, July 10, at 145 pounds, and July 11, I will have a gold belt wrapped around my waist, so, everything else means nothing to me."

When asked if his training has anticipated the possibility of two different fighters, the SBG Ireland member was adamant he simply trains for self-improvement.

"I'm just preparing to get better, show up at the gym looking to become better, a better martial artist. I'll whoop both of them on the same night if need be," he said.

McGregor was also asked whether he would target Aldo's weak rib.

"I'm gonna go for the chin, I wanna knock him out," The Notorious said. "It's the chin I am hunting."

The highly anticipated event, already believed to be the biggest fight of the year, could break the UFC pay-per-view record.

McGregor thinks that will be the case.

"100 percent," he said. "As long as Jose shows up, the record will be smashed."
