Rory MacDonald will get a title shot in his home and native land.

UFC president Dana White said the Canadian will fight the winner of UFC 181's main event between Johnny Hendricks and Robbie Lawler, according to Neil Davidson of the Canadian Press.

Hendricks and Lawler meet on Dec. 6 in a UFC 171 rematch in Las Vegas.

White says MacDonald has earned his shot.

"It’s pretty impossible to deny Rory that, whoever comes out of that Hendricks-Lawler fight, he’s the next guy in line."

While no official date or location has been announced, White said the fight will "absolutely, positively, without a doubt be in Canada."

MacDonald is the No. 2 Welterweight contender, having won eight of his last nine fights in the UFC.

He scored a third-round TKO over Tarec Saffiedine at UFC Fight Night last weekend in Halifax, N.S.

"I think it goes without saying I'm next for that title," MacDonald said after the fight. "I want that title shot."
