Bellator announces 6 new signings for flyweight division

Bellator MMA

Bellator MMA continues to invest heavily in its 125-pound division, announcing the signing of six new fighters on Friday via a press release.

The biggest name among the additions is one-time UFC strawweight title challenger Valerie Letourneau, whose signing was previously confirmed by multiple sources. "Trouble" brings a modest 8-6 record to Bellator, though that includes battles with Joanna Jedrzejczyk, Claudia Gadelha, and Joanne Calderwood.

Joining Letourneau on the Bellator roster are Alejandra Lara (6-1), Sabriye Sengul (0-0), Kristi Lopez (2-0), Na Liang (6-0), and Juliana Velasquez (5-0). These fighters will raise the promotion's international profile, with Lara (Colombia), Liang (China), Sengul (Turkey), and Velasquez (Brazil) all hailing from outside the United States.

The 22-year-old Lara has finished five of her first seven opponents, while Liang and Velasquez will bring undefeated records into the Bellator cage.

Sengul is the least seasoned of the bunch. She makes her professional MMA debut after compiling a 6-1 kickboxing record.

At 2-0, Lopez isn't much more experienced, but she does have an appearance on "The Ultimate Fighter" under her belt. She competed on the 23rd season of the reality competition, but lost an exhibition bout to JJ Aldrich to get into the TUF house.
