Lewis-Hunt confirmed as UFC Auckland headliner

A heavyweight bout between Derrick Lewis and Mark Hunt will headline UFC Fight Night 110 on June 11 at the Vector Arena in Auckland, New Zealand. Lewis had announced the booking himself before the promotion made it official on Wednesday's broadcast of "UFC Tonight."

"The Black Beast" has called for a date with Hunt after dispatching Travis Browne by second-round KO in the main event of UFC Fight Night 105 last month, and gets his wish after mounting a division-best six-fight win streak including five wins by knockout. The 32-year-old Lewis sits in the sixth spot of the heavyweight rankings.

As for Hunt, "The Super Samoan" is coming off a third-round knockout loss - courtesy of Alistair Overeem - at UFC 209. The defeat would have marked Hunt's second straight, but the decision loss he suffered at Brock Lesnar's hands at UFC 200 was overturned to a no-contest when Lesnar failed several drug tests surrounding the bout. The 42-year-old Hunt had scored back-to-back knockouts of Frank Mir and Antonio Silva prior to facing Lesnar.

Lewis and Hunt suffered a broken foot and a leg injury, respectively, in their latest bouts, but it appears their badges of honor weren't enough to get in the booking's way.

Also gracing the card is a middleweight tilt between Derek Brunson and Dan Kelly.
