Lawlor accepts 2-year USADA suspension for failed drug test

Rafael Suanes / US PRESSWIRE

UFC light heavyweight Tom Lawlor will be out of action until 2018 after accepting a two-year suspension from the USADA on Friday.

Lawlor's punishment stems from a failed out-of-competition drug test taken on Oct. 10, 2016. The prohibited substance ostarine was discovered in his sample, an anabolic agent often found in dietary supplements that potentially has performance-enhancing properties.

The 11-fight UFC veteran is eligible to compete again on Oct. 10, 2018, two years after the date of the failed test. Lawlor has only fought two times since 2013 and he lost a unanimous decision to Corey Anderson in his lone 2016 appearance.
