10 fighters receive 6-month suspensions after UFC Halifax

Tom Szczerbowski / USA TODAY

The UFC's return to Halifax was an entertaining affair, but it came at a price.

10 fighters are expected to potentially be out of action for up to 180 days according to medical suspensions issued by the Nova Scotia Boxing Authority following UFC Fight Night 105 this past Sunday, per MMAjunkie.

Below is a list of the fighters in question:

  • Travis Browne
  • Johny Hendricks
  • Cezar Ferreria
  • Sara McMann
  • Gina Mazany
  • Alessandro Ricci
  • Nordine Taleb
  • Aiemann Zahabi
  • Reginaldo Vieira
  • Ryan Janes

Particularly of note are former welterweight champion Johny Hendricks, who injured his left hand in an otherwise successful middleweight debut against Hector Lombard, and top-10 women's bantamweight Sara McMann, who somehow suffered oral and maxillofacial injuries in her 74-second submission win over Gina Mazany.

Strangely, victorious headliner Derrick Lewis only received a 30-day suspension despite revealing on Tuesday that he suffered a broken foot in his fight with Browne.

All the injured fighters can see their suspensions significantly reduced with clearance from a physician.
