Ortiz: Dana White sent congratulatory text after win over Sonnen

Tito Ortiz can hang up his gloves with some much needed closure.

After tapping Chael Sonnen in the last fight of his storied 19-year career Saturday in the main event of Bellator 170, "The Huntington Beach Bad Boy" told ESPN's Brett Okamoto his former manager and employer - UFC president Dana White - sent his girlfriend a text message congratulating him on the victory.

Ortiz and White butted heads on more than one occasion over their lengthy working relationship, even agreeing to settle their differences in an ill-fated boxing match in 2007. While the 41-year-old Ortiz admitted his bond with the UFC boss was a tempestuous one, he was relieved he and White could finally bury the hatchet.

"I love the guy, man," Ortiz said. "He was my first manager. I always just fought for what I wanted for my career. That's always what I've fought for. No hard feelings."

Not a bad way to go out.
