Apparently, being the most successful English martial artist of all time isn't good enough for Michael Bisping's home country.

In November, the BBC released their short list for the 2016 Sports Personality of the Year, and noticeably absent was the UFC's reigning middleweight champion. On Wednesday, Bisping announced via Twitter that he is refusing the BBC's invitation to the event in protest of their failure to recognize his accomplishments and the sport of MMA as a whole.

All Bisping did in 2016 was become a UFC champion, go 3-0 inside the Octagon, including a win over the greatest 185-pound fighter of all time, Anderson Silva, and claim sole ownership of the UFC's all-time wins record with 20.

Suffice to say, Bisping has reason to feel slighted.

The BBC's short list for their award includes tennis superstar Andy Murray, Leicester City scoring machine Jamie Vardy, and surprise Masters winner Danny Willett, as well as a number of British Olympians.
