"The Dominator" has his next challenger.

Stepping up to the plate to fight Dominick Cruz for the UFC bantamweight championship is 25-year-old knockout artist Cody Garbrandt. The two will meet in the co-main event of UFC 207 on Dec. 30 in Las Vegas.

The UFC confirmed the bout on Monday afternoon.

Cruz has been nearly unbeatable in his 23-fight career, with a loss to Urijah Faber back in 2007 standing as his only blemish. He's avenged that defeat twice over, and is currently riding a 13-bout unbeaten streak that includes five title defenses.

A win over Garbrandt would cap off a sensational year for Cruz that saw him re-establish himself as one of the sport's greatest champions after knee injuries robbed him of the past four years of his athletic prime. Cruz narrowly outpointed TJ Dillashaw in January to reclaim a title that injuries forced him to vacate in 2014, then defended it against Faber at UFC 199.

Garbrandt is undefeated in 10 professional contests, including five wins in the UFC. He has knocked out four of his five opponents inside the Octagon and vowed that Cruz will suffer the same fate.

UFC 207 will be headlined by Amanda Nunes making the first defense of her women's bantamweight championship against Ronda Rousey.
