Cain Velasquez and Fabricio Werdum are set to lock horns again.

The rematch of former heavyweight champions is scheduled for UFC 207 on Dec. 30 in Las Vegas, the promotion confirmed Thursday.

Velasquez and Werdum first fought last June in the main event of UFC 188, which "Vai Cavalho" won by third-round submission. He took Velasquez's title in the process, only to lose it 11 months later in his first defense, against Stipe Miocic.

The upcoming fight was reported to be in the works during September, after Velasquez said he would prefer to face Werdum again if Miocic would not be ready by the end of the year. Velasquez returned from a 13-month layoff in July to record a first-round TKO over Travis Browne at UFC 200.

Werdum also bounced back from a loss by defeating Browne this past September, on the strength of a one-sided unanimous decision. The Brazilian has been campaigning for another crack at Miocic, but will settle for a rematch with Velasquez instead.

UFC 207 will be headlined by a women's bantamweight title match between champion Amanda Nunes and challenger Ronda Rousey.
