Conor McGregor can't elude Jose Aldo's clutches forever.

Mere hours after McGregor was confirmed to meet Eddie Alvarez in the main event of UFC 205 in November, Aldo - in stark contrast to his usually meek demeanor - issued an ominous tweet, in which he vowed to avenge his loss to the Irishman.

Aldo promptly deleted the post, but not before several reporters managed to screen grab or retweet it. The interim featherweight champ has been clamoring for a crack at McGregor since the Irishman knocked him out at UFC 194, and it appears the promotion's latest piece of matchmaking now has him obsessed.

The Brazilian could be pitted against a divisional contender while McGregor's immediate future gets sorted. A winner of nine straight, Max Holloway saw the near-finalized UFC 205 bill as an opportunity to challenge Aldo.

Holloway last fought at UFC 199, where he beat Ricardo Lamas by unanimous decision.
