Conor McGregor will face Eddie Alvarez for the lightweight title in the main event at UFC 205 in November.

The fight had been rumored for weeks and will be the third title fight to take place on the historic card.

Both McGregor and Alvarez are expected to appear at a Tuesday press conference in New York at 6 p.m. EST.

McGregor will get the chance to accomplish his goal of holding two belts simultaneously, as UFC president Dana White confirmed he won't be stripped of his featherweight title prior to UFC 205.

The fight will be Alvarez's first title defense after knocking out Raphael dos Anjos in July to secure the strap.

McGregor is coming off a five round war with Nate Diaz which he won by decision to avenge his UFC 196 loss in March. It will be his first UFC fight in the 155 pound division.
