MMA fighter Marcus Kowal will donate his 15-month-old son's organs after the child was fatally hit by a car last weekend.

After doctors declared their son, Liam, brain-dead, Kowal and his wife opted to take him off life support Sunday. He had been admitted to hospital after an allegedly drunk driver struck him and his 15-year-old aunt.

Kowal took to social media Monday to announce they would donate Liam's heart to "make another child live."

Kowal's followers have rallied to donate to Liam's online memorial fund, raising nearly $95,000 intended for the child's medical bills and funeral service.

California's Hawthorne Police Department claims Liam's aunt was pushing him in his stroller through a crosswalk when they were hit by an SUV. The driver, 72-year-old Donna Marie Higgins, who was reportedly intoxicated, allegedly tried to flee the scene, but witnesses chased after her and formed a vehicular blockade while they waited for police. According to TIME's Melissa Chan, the stroller was broken in half.

Higgins was arrested and charged with felony hit-and-run and felony drunk driving. Liam's aunt sustained serious injuries and is in stable condition.
