McGregor opens as favorite in potential Diaz, Aldo, Alvarez bouts

Joshua Dahl / USA TODAY

After a Fight of the Year candidate that saw Conor McGregor avenge the lone UFC loss of his career, "The Notorious" is back on top of the MMA world.

McGregor was a betting favorite heading into his rematch with Nate Diaz, a bout that he won by majority decision, and odds makers are expecting him to keep the good times rolling no matter who he faces next.

A trio of names have been bandied about, including a trilogy match with Diaz, a rematch with rival featherweight Jose Aldo, and a bout with lightweight champion Eddie Alvarez. Neither McGregor nor the UFC have made any official statement on who he will face next, though president Dana White has strongly suggested that he wants to see the Irishman face Aldo to unify the 145-pound belts.

According to the Las Vegas betting site Bovada, McGregor is a -185 favorite should he face Diaz or Aldo, while the odds are slightly better for him against Alvarez at -190.

With wins in eight of his nine UFC contests, you can see why McGregor is a favorite to fans and gamblers alike.
