Welterweight Mike Perry caused quite a stir at UFC 202, though for the wrong reasons.

Perry's corner was heard uttering racially offensive comments aimed at Korean opponent Hyun Gyu Lim prior to their bout on Saturday. The cornerman in question was later identified as fellow UFC fighter Alex Nicholson.

Nicholson took to Twitter on Tuesday to apologize for his comments:

As for Perry, he was asked about the incident on this week's episode of The MMA Hour. The 24-year-old fighter did not exactly issue an apology.

"What did he say? People may have taken it wrong," Perry said. "I think people's opinion on this has been blown way out of proportion and they need to calm down."

Perry defeated Lim by first-round knockout, which makes the controversy surrounding his bout all the more regrettable as it has threatened to overshadow his exciting Octagon debut.
